What Are The woods in Istanbul?
Woods emerged when damaged forestland were protected. Therefore, there are so many woods in İstanbul. Woods, which you can see in different towns and districts of Istanbul, are generally located on the hills viewing the İstanbul Bosphorus.
Woods are as old as the history. It has a past dating back to the Byzantium. In the Ottoman Period, sultans and other statesmen used to take a rest in these woods.
There are lots of woods in Istanbul that have come until today. These woods are closed to visits, because they have owners. But there are woods open to visits as well.
Emirgan Wood:
Emirgan Wood is one of the most beautiful places of İstanbul. Despite being crowded and boring at weekends, it is quite during the weekdays. You can walk in the wood, take photos and spend nice time. Rarely can you see squirrels jumping from a tree to another anywhere, but you can see them in Emirgan Wood. Emirgan Wood, which reminds us of a paradise having all colors, turns into an attractive place in spring and autumn.
Three mansions in the wood host their visitors today. Those mansions contribute to that beauty with the names of the Yellow Mansion, the Pink Mansion and the White Mansion.
Fethipaşa Wood:
Fethipaşa Wood also takes place among the beautiful places of İstanbul. This wood in Üsküdar presents you an amazing environment. You can go there both at weekend and on weekdays. The entrance of the wood is in the İcadiye Street. If you go straight ahead the street on which Üsküdar Cumhuriyet High School is, you will reach the wood.
Yıldız Wood:
Yıldız Wood is located in Beşiktaş. It was so important in the Tulip Age and it has still the same importance and the beauty today. If you go to Yıldız Park during the time when the tulip-planting increases, then you will HGH enjoy it more. The scent that the tulips of spring give around will make you keep thinking. If you want to spend one weekend or any day by taking a rest in a green environment you should definitely prefer Yıldız Wood.
Naile Sultan Wood:
Naile Sultan Wood, which rises from the coast located between Ortaköy and Kuruçeşme towards the northwest and which is in a sloping area, is among the most beautiful places of İstanbul. Although the unconscious structuring damaged this wood after 1980s, the wood got back its previous beauty thanks to some restorations. Naile Sultan Wood, which belonged to the daughter of Abdülhamid Han II., an Ottoman sultan, has become a place that people often visit.
Naciye Sultan Wood:
Naciye Sultan Wood is one of the most enjoyable places in İstanbul. It is located between Ortaköy and Kuruçeşme. It belonged to so many people in the past but finally was named after Naciye Sultan who was in the palace as well.
In the wood, there is a wooden mansion called Enver Paşa Mansion. But as in all the woods, so many trees were chopped down and burnt in Naciye Sultan Wood due to the unconscious structuring. Although it is in a small area, there are a lot of people visiting it.
Prince Selahattin Wood:
This wood is on a hill between Kuruçeşme and TRT building in Ulus. It is not noticed because of the fact that it isn’t located among tall trees. Nevertheless, people who know its location go there for a visit. There are lentisks, locusts, olive and lime trees in the wood. It is very enjoyable to walk through this wood when the flowers are out in the spring.
Mihrabad Wood:
Mihribad Wood, pearl of Kanlıca, is located on a sloping hill. It is named after the demolished Mihribad Pavilion. The municipality looks after this wood today. Mihribad Wood draws attention with its beautiful green areas.
