Ümraniye City in Istanbul

Undoubtedly, one of districts in Istanbul is Ümraniye where showed the most rapid growth. The district has a really nice financial graph with improving economic conditions and big developments. As a result of these conditions population has increased in this district. So much so that Ümraniye is the second most populous district.

In order to analyze Ümraniye better, we must take a look at the history of the district. It is said that the first name of the district was Ormaniye and resemblance of pronunciation provide to exchange the name, it became Ümraniye. There were too many trees so there named as Ormaniye and several supporting findings are showed. One of them is the first settlers of this region, the Phrygians based on historical sources. The pine trees were sacred for the Phrygians and the reason of settlements was pine trees. Here was a green, full of forest. Ümraniye was dissolved during the September 12. After the closure, this district was connected to the Üsküdar Municipality. Then in 1987 Ümraniye has became a district again.

We have mentioned the financial graph, especially in recent years the district has high growth economic chart. Artisan enterprises with small diameter still have still maintained the existence but serial production shops are the majority in this county. Clothing workshops can be given examples to this issue. Industry is important as well as workshops or small enterprises in the district. Imes industrial zone provides the needs of the around districts as well as Ümraniye. When we look this perspective, we can say the district’s developed economic stems from the below reasons.

Ümraniye has the only difference from Kadıköy and Üsküdar that is lack of the sea. In fact this is not a wrong thought. The drop- down shops are evidences of this situation. Ümraniye Carrefour is located in here and it is the oldest shopping centers of Anatolian side of Istanbul. This shopping center provides the needs of the region, for all that recently opened Square Shopping center is helping to the Carrefour. Besides the two shopping centers, people are able to find almost every need.
