BUS

Another common vehicle in public transport is the bus. In Istanbul, busses are run by two institutions: Metropolitan Municipality and Cooperation of Private Public Busses. IETT busses are generally red and green-colored and passengers are required to have an “Istanbul Card” to get on them. The busses belonging to Cooperation are orange and blue-colored. Both of the busses enable you to go wherever you want in the city and have nearly the same tariff system. Sometimes you may even have a chance to travel by a double deck bus.

METRO

Several alternatives were created for Istanbul city with a population over 10 million. One of them is metro. Even though metro can’t cover the whole public demand, it is one of the most preferred public transport vehicles. Metro has three separate lines. The first one lies between Coach Station and Ataturk Airport. The second one is between Zeytinburnu, Kabataş and Eminönü. The last line has stations in Şişhane, Taksim, Osmanbey, Şişli-Mecidiyeköy, Gayrettepe, Levent, 4.Levent, Sanayi, Seyrantepe, İTÜ-Ayazağa, Atatürk Oto Sanayi, Darüşşafaka, Seyrantepe-Stadyum and Hacıosman.  TRAMWAY

Another transport vehicle commonly preferred in Istanbul is tramway. Although it has been used for such a long time, it has started to be replaced by metro recently. There are two separate tramway lines in Istanbul. One of them lies between Taksim and the Tunnel.  It is possible for people to feel the magnificent ambiance in Istiklal Avenue, by travelling on this line. The line is 500-m-long and enables passengers to take the distance between Taksim and Kabataş in 110 seconds. This system offers people a great advantage for local transport.

FERRY

In order to cross the Bosphorus, people generally prefer to use ferries. You can have a chance for both an easy and a comfortable travel in this way. You are required to pay an extra over price to go to “Adalar” via ferry.

MOTOR

Motor is a fast marine transport vehicle. It is the most appropriate way for passenger transportation between the three:
1- Kadıköy- Eminönü- Kadıköy,
2- Beşiktaş- Üsküdar-Beşiktaş 
3- Karaköy – Üsküdar – Karaköy

TAXI

Taxis are commonly preferred, as in the rest of the country. All the taxis are yellow-colored and first letter of their license plate is “T”, referring that” This vehicle is a taxi”. There is a taximeter in each of them to show the kilometer and the total. Opening price is 10 TL and it costs 2,70 TL per kilometer. You can get in a taxi for a quick drive. Finally, don’t forget that costumer pays the toll, in case of crossing the Bosphorus Bridge.
